Ongoing Excursions and Incursions
- Excursions: Regular educational trips to local parks, museums, libraries, shops, zoos enhance children's learning experiences outside the service. These excursions will expose children to new environments, cultures, and concepts, enriching their understanding of the world around them.
- Incursions: Visits from local experts, such as scientists, artists, musicians, and firefighters, who will engage children in interactive workshops and demonstrations. These sessions will provide hands-on learning opportunities and inspire curiosity and interest in various fields
Social and Emotional Preparedness
- Be You Program: Activities focused on identifying and expressing emotions, understanding empathy, and developing self-regulation skills through storytelling, role-playing, and mindfulness exercises.
- Show and Tell Discussion: Opportunities for children to facilitate group time and discussions. Emphasis on building positive relationships and effective communication skills, confidence building and public speaking.
- Buddy Program: Encourages interaction and relationship-building among our children. It promotes inclusivity and a sense of belonging within a group
- Meet, greet and Learn: We invite our old Preschoolers to visit and talk about their experiences in ‘big school’. This will give our children the opportunity to ask questions to the old preschoolers, some familiar faces that they used to play with.
Reading Eggs Program
- Integration of the Reading Eggs program to support early literacy skills development. This online platform offers engaging activities, phonics lessons, and interactive books tailored to children's individual learning needs and interests.
- Regular sessions where children can explore literacy in a fun and interactive way, both independently and with guidance from educators.
Partnership with Communities
- Collaboration with local schools in providing talks and presentations for our families, to give them support and understanding of the ‘big school’ expectations from families.
- Community members may visit Occupational Therapists to visit our Service and work in partnership with our Educators and Families, or Parents to share their expertise, stories, and cultural traditions, fostering a sense of belonging and connection among children.
STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics) through our special Programs
- Incorporation of STEM activities into daily learning experiences to develop critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and curiosity about the natural world. Activities will include experiments, building challenges, and exploration of basic scientific concepts through play.
