The aim of primary caregiving at Blossoms is to ensure that each child has a positive child care experience. Referred to as ‘secure base behaviour’, primary caregiving encourages a child to explore the environment and take risks knowing an adult (with whom they have a secure, trusting relationship) is close by if necessary. Secure attachments are based on healthy relationships between children and caregivers. Children who are securely attached will be happy to say goodbye to parents and caregiver, play easily by themselves and with others and only cry if hungry, tired or hurt. Primary care giving also assists parents in knowing who to talk to about their child's progress at care.
